About Katy

After completing a degree in Modern European Languages (German, Italian and Spanish) at Durham University, I spent a few years exploring Europe and helping others do the same whilst working as a tour guide on European coach holidays.
I then returned to the serious business of studying to gain a Masters in Interpreting and Translation at the University of Bath, which I completed in 2008.
To gain some practical experience, I undertook work placements at translation companies in Italy and Germany, and also passed the European Union interpreting service’s freelancer examination. I was then ready to set up on my own, so spent a couple of years working as a freelance interpreter and translator, spending time in both Brussels and the UK.
I have now decided to concentrate on translation, which is something I have always loved doing, and am enjoying the variety and scope for creativity that often comes with the job. I learn something new every day about a huge variety of businesses ranging from financial services to adult entertainment!
